Week 7 Picks: Defense

blue-chips

The C.R.E.A.M of the crop (the highest salaries). If you’re looking to spend money on a DST we recommend:

Going into Seattle and defeating the Seahawks on their home turf is the type of season defining win that elevates a teams play for the rest of the season.

The Panthers will also face Sam Bradford who is throwing multiple picks per game and is clearly struggling in Chip’s offense

Pro Football Focus rates the Panthers as the 8th best team rushing the passer and the 4th best pass coverage defense

The Eagles rank 31st as a pass offense…..we could see plenty of INT’s and strip sacks vs. the fragile Bradford this week.

“Bull” is inspired by a Bull Market on Wall Street. If you’re looking for a high ceiling with a moderate salary:

This pick depends on Landry Jones making his first career start on Sunday….if Ben is back I will stay away from the Chiefs DST

Despite making some excellent throws in relief, Jones also had some very bad throws that will turn into turnovers this week.

It’s much more difficult to prepare and execute as a starter than to be unknowingly thrown into a game, especially because KC DC Bob Sutton gets a week to develop a game plan to confuse the young QB into mistakes.

Despite playing statistically bad defense, the KC pass rush is still dangerous and should dominate Steelers backup LT Alejandro Villanueva because starter (and blind side protection) LT Beachum lost for for the season. This is a huge factor and could have a big impact on the Steelers in this game.

Chiefs defense plays well at home….and actually played a very good game against the Vikings last week, the offense just couldn’t score.

I like KC pass rush to harass the rookie and step up to steal a victory vs. the Steelers this week.

If you’re looking for near minimum salary with the potential to out perform the Blue Chip market:

No idea how the Rams are so cheap, but I’ll take a group that forced 3 Aaron Rodgers turnovers, at home, coming off a bye, vs. a turnover prone QB any day of the week.

The Browns have struggled to run the ball and protect McCown this year.

I don’t think they will be able to get the ground game going once again and force them to be a one dimensional offense.

The Rams pass rush will overwhelm the Browns OL like the Broncos did last week, which will cause McCown turnovers…..
For the price, I’m not sure any other DST makes sense this week on DraftKings.

“Bear” also draws inspiration from Wall Street.  Stay away this week:

Above you see the Ravens newest DB Shareece Wright biting on a double move for yet another long passing TD and the 11th passing TD allowed on the year……

The Ravens secondary is so bad that Quinton Patton caused them to fall down for a TD

They have given up the 5th most passing yards in the NFL and they are facing a team with the 6th most passing yards…..clear mismatch.

Even in a game where he struggled in week 6 vs. the Steelers, Carson Palmer still threw for 421 yards
This could be a MNF snoozer after the Cardinals pile it on early vs. the Ravens. Stay away from this DST this week
