Week 15 Picks: Defense

When a team is “hoping” to have Matt Schaub back for their upcoming game you know the offense is in complete disarray. This matchup features two teams heading in completely different directions. The Chiefs are going for their 8th straight victory, behind a stingy defense that is finally playing up to its billing as a top D on the year. They are facing a Ravens offense that has lost nearly every impact player to injury and has nothing left to play for. The pick six fairy Matt Schaub should return for this one which increases the odds that the Ravens O keep pace with their per game average of 1.77 turnovers per game. $500 dollars cheaper than the top D in Seattle, Chiefs present the best DST matchup on paper and will likely be the DST chalk this week. Must start in cash.

Not much to like in the lower bull market this week….but I’m predicting the aggressive and disruptive front 7 of the Steelers to dominate the gooey o-line of Broncos. After singlehandedly allowing Khalil Mack to hand Denver a fatal loss last week….expect Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Keith Butler to turn up the heat on young Brock Osweiler this week. I like the Steelers chances of gaining a lead which will allow them to create havoc on D and force young Oz into some TO’s on the road. This will force a nice QB controversy and giant questions marks for the once smooth sailing Bronco nation heading into the playoffs.

Even less to like in the bottom barrel Pennystock market….but if you need to bargain, I can see the Colts giving Chuck Pagano some late season heroics. Plus they face one of the worst offenses in the league that will be led by TJ Yates. Pagano knows the injuries are mounting, but I like his ability to scheme up a Texans offense that only features one dangerous weapon. Let’s hope Vontae can get up for one more game and limit Nuk to an average performance. Manusky and Pagano will throw some exotic blitzes at Yates and force some turnovers in front of the home crowd in a playoff atmosphere. If you can pay up for DST I recommend you do so, but if forced to play a cheapie…..roll the dice with Colts.

Just don’t do it. If the Browns 9 sack performance vs. Blaine Gabbert and the 49ers happened to lead you to chase some points I’m here to tell you not to sniff this D. Without a lockdown corner in the man based Pettine coverage schemes Cleveland has allowed some of the best fantasy performances of the season to opposing WR’s. Also Cleveland is probably the least gap responsible defense vs the run I have ever watched, which should allow whatever jabroni (Looks like Bryce Brown) the Seahawks decide to run to gash the Brownies for 100+. No offense is hotter than the Seahawks, and young Johnny may be slinging some INT’s on the road which won’t help the wounded Browns defense. In this road spot expect Cleveland max ceiling to be 5 with a strong possibility of 0 or negative points. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.
