The C.R.E.A.M of the crop (the highest salaries). If you’re looking to spend money on a Tight End we recommend:
Tony Romo is back! The Cowboys have the tough task of trying to surmount a 2-6 start to win the NFC East. First victim: The Miami Dolphins. The Cowboys have the reputation as a run first offense, but with their backs against the wall, Tony is gonna come out firing. Jason Witten looks to be one of the main beneficiaries. In weeks 1 and 2, Witten was targeted 15 times by Romo before breaking his collarbone., Witten remained consistent, catching at least 4 passes in 6 of 7 games Romo missed. The dolphins have allowed over 60 yards to 7 different tight ends this season. Last week, Brent Celek and Zach Ertz both had over 60 yards, combining for 202 yards. Witten has 20% of the target share with 68, and catches 79% of those targets. I’m looking for a 3 TD game from Romo, with at least 1 to Jason Witten.
“Bull” is inspired by a Bull Market on Wall Street. If you’re looking for a high ceiling with a moderate salary:
We all know the #1 rule in NFL DFS. Target tight ends against the Raiders. Kyle Rudolph wasn’t able to score last week, but follow tight end Rhett Ellison added himself to the long list who have scored on the Raiders this year. In all, the Raiders allow the most TDs to tight ends, and the 3rd most yards. Ebron has been a quiet bright spot for the Lions offense this season. He has at least 5 targets in every full game he’s played. Detroit ranks 30th in the league in red zone scoring attempts but Ebron has a touchdown on all 3 of his red zone targets. The Raiders and Lions have the highest O/U of the week at 48.5 points and both offenses will have opportunities against vulnerable defenses.
If you’re looking for near minimum salary with the potential to out perform the Blue Chip market:
The bottom of the barrel at tight end is pretty ugly this week but the potential of Jermaine Gresham in a high powered Cardinals passing attack caught my eye. I’ve monitored Gresham since his 4-62-0 line in week 8, and for his price he is worth the risk. Darren Fells is working his way back from injury and was out snapped 73-50 by Gresham. John Brown and Michael Floyd are both nursing hamstring injuries, which opens up 34% of the Cardinals target market share. Gresham is 5th on the Cardinals in targets, and is quickly rising. As always with my penny tight end, don’t expect too much from Gresham, but he has upside to pay 5x him salary which makes a solid play in cash and tournament.
“Bear” also draws inspiration from Wall Street. Stay away this week:
Chasing points is the one sure fire way to lose money in dfs. Over the last 2 weeks, Miller has torched defenses for 7-130-3. In weeks 1-8, Miller had 4 targets. 4 TARGETS. We all know the way to score points is attack opportunities, and over the year Miller’s opportunities are few. Martellus Bennett has significantly out snapped Miller in each game, and has a team leading 73 targets to only 16 targets for Miller on the season. On Sunday, 87 of Miller’s 107 yards came on 1 catch, which entirely skews his numbers. Players who are chasing points will have no hesitation to roster Miller this week, but make no mistake, Martellus Bennett is still the man. Don’t make the mistake of point chasing.
