Week 9 Picks: Wide Receiver

blue-chips

The C.R.E.A.M of the crop (the highest salaries). If you’re looking to spend money on a Wide Receiver we recommend:

The media is drooling all over the young Raiders, but last week was one of those trappy, fluke NFL games you can expect if you follow the league long enough. The Jets were coming off an emotional loss, traveling across country, without their Pro Bowl center and (after couple min) their starting QB. Yes, the Raiders are improving but this is a perfect spot for them to remind of us the ugly blemishes that remain on the D.

The Steelers NEED a win, and will be undervalued after a disappointing 10 point performance last week.
Ben is one week healthier, facing a much worse pass rush + secondary and the injury to Bell turns Brown into a “RB through the air”…..The Steelers will force feed the ball to the most talented WR in the league.

8,100 in DK should still be considered a discount for a WR who has as good shot to lead his position in points than any.

A healthier Ben will have more time in the pocket this week to allow Bryant and Brown to exploit a burnable Raider secondary.

“Bull” is inspired by a Bull Market on Wall Street. If you’re looking for a high ceiling with a moderate salary:

Jeffrey just snuck into our Bull Market and is sure to be top Chalk this week…but I can’t not recommend this fantasy monster at this price

DraftKings still allowing a steep discount for one of the biggest target monsters in the league

Bears OC Adam Gase has been short on weapons (and just lost top dawg Forte for a few weeks) so upon return from injury AJ has received 11 and 15 targets ….you mix in the gun slinger, no F’s given, Jay Cutler and you have a high floor and astronomical ceiling that you love for in cash games.

Admittedly, I was off Jeffrey last week in fear Zimmer’s Vikings D (who has a knack for slowing down #1 WR’s) but after tearing a good Vikes D apart he becomes nearly matchup proof

One variable to consider – the return of Eric Weddle cannot be underestimated…he is a premier safety and will slightly downgrade Jeffrey ceiling if healthy (Over top of Calvin in week 1)…. but for 6,700 start AJ with confidence.

Also an option: Martavias Bryant. I’m all in on the Steelers WRs this week.

If you’re looking for near minimum salary with the potential to out perform the Blue Chip market:

This one was easy:
1. Tom Brady is his QB
2. Redskins present just enough Run D to make this a “spread” Patriots offensive game
3. Pats average over 41 pass attempts per game
4. Redskins Pass D is coming off a game in which it surrendered 8-164-1 to Evans who runs similar routes to LaFell on the outside of formations

3200 is nothing for so much upside. 10 points is the floor here with the potential for a huge day after Brady has publicly declared his confidence in Lafell, and desire to get him going. He’s a safe play anywhere with his near minimum salary.

“Bear” also draws inspiration from Wall Street.  Stay away this week:

Not feeling an Austin game here, this will be a slow paced, field position game between two defensive squads that like to run the ball.

Offensive opportunities will be limited, especially through the air, and the Vikings are a much tougher matchup for Austin than the 49ers.

Don’t slip on the recency bias….fade Austin this week.
